About the Role
We’re looking for a passionate, motivated, and experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at Novotel London Excel and play a key role in delivering an exceptional food experience for our guests. Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll help lead the kitchen team, maintain consistently high standards, and ensure every dish leaving the kitchen is prepared with care, precision, and attention to detail. This is a fantastic opportunity for a chef who enjoys being hands-on, thrives in a busy environment, and is ready to take the next step in their career.
Key responsibilities include supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, leading and motivating the kitchen team during service, ensuring food quality and presentation, managing kitchen operations in the Head Chef’s absence, assisting with menu development and specials, maintaining portion control and consistency, managing stock and minimising food waste, ensuring food hygiene and health & safety standards, supporting training and development of junior chefs, working closely with front-of-house for smooth service, and maintaining a positive and professional kitchen environment.

Experience
Previous experience as Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie. Proven experience with all aspects of Food Safety and Health & Safety requirements. Confidence in leading a team in a busy kitchen environment.

Passionate and motivated chef who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams. Professional, supportive, and committed to maintaining high standards. Must have the right to work in the UK.
Qualifications
Relevant culinary qualifications are desirable but not mandatory. Demonstrable knowledge and compliance with food safety and health & safety regulations are essential.
