About the Role
Raffles London at The OWO on London’s Whitehall combines the heritage of Raffles with one of the world’s most historic addresses. This Grade II* listed Edwardian building features 120 rooms and suites, 85 branded residences, nine restaurants, and three bars including one by signature chef Mauro Colagreco. The venue also offers the Guerlain spa, Pillar Wellness, and a 600-seat grand ballroom, The Whitehall, ideal for special occasions and events. Within these iconic walls, guests experience luxury, glamour, and extraordinary adventure, arriving as guests and leaving as friends and family.
The Waiter at The Guards Bar will be responsible for day-to-day service, working alongside waiters and bartenders to support food pick up, table service, clearing tables, station refills, and drink service. The role demands delivering the highest standards of service from guest arrival to departure, maintaining stations and the bar, and acting as a communication point between front and back of house. Additional duties include supporting the hostess and other team members, relaying guest feedback and requests to management, and performing other tasks as assigned, including working in different departments or restaurants when required.
Responsibilities
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the menu and all products served within The Guards Bar.
• Deliver food orders promptly and accurately with clear explanations of each dish.
• Serve as the contact point between Front of House and Back of House staff.
• Assist wait staff with table setting by fetching and placing appropriate tableware, utensils, and napkins.
• Engage guests professionally and knowledgeably about dishes.
• Check in with customers to take additional orders or refill water as requested.
• Serve food orders and clear used dishes and utensils.
• Ensure food service complies with safety standards.
• Communicate customer feedback or requests to restaurant staff.
• Commit to sustainable practices daily regarding waste management and purchasing.
• Assume additional responsibilities in the absence of line managers or senior employees.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Health and Safety
• Report and rectify all potential and real hazards immediately.
• Be fully conversant with departmental Fire, Emergency, and Bomb procedures.
• Ensure the safety of persons and property by adhering to laws, statutes, and ordinances, anticipating hazards, and implementing preventative measures.
• Promote general awareness of Health and Safety in all departmental tasks and activities.
Experience
Proven track record of surprising and delighting guests with high levels of service under pressure. Previous experience within a luxury hotel environment working with LQA, Forbes 5* or equivalent standards is desirable but not essential.
