About the Role
Join BBC News as our YouTube Showrunner and help shape the future of trusted journalism on the world's biggest video platform. You will lead the development of original YouTube-first formats that attract new audiences, deepen engagement and build lasting viewer habits. Working with journalists, presenters and production teams across BBC News, you will turn innovative ideas into distinctive, repeatable formats that bring public service journalism to life for digital audiences.
BBC News is investing in a new era of audience-first storytelling on YouTube. This is a unique opportunity to help define what BBC News looks and feels like on the platform, working with world-class journalism, talented presenters and industry-leading creatives. You will have the freedom to experiment, innovate and create formats that can reach millions of viewers while helping audiences better understand the world around them.
Your key responsibilities include developing and launching original YouTube formats that grow audiences, deepen engagement and strengthen BBC News' presence on the platform. You will lead projects from concept through pilot production, testing and series development, ensuring ideas are editorially robust and creatively distinctive. Working closely with presenters, journalists, producers and editors, you will create repeatable, audience-first formats designed specifically for YouTube.
Using audience insights, performance data and platform expertise, you will refine content, improve retention and optimise viewing habits. You will identify opportunities to transform BBC journalism, expertise and talent into innovative long-form and mid-form video experiences. As a champion of creative innovation, you will stay ahead of platform trends, audience behaviours and emerging creator approaches. Collaboration across teams to deliver formats that meet the highest editorial, creative and public service standards will be essential.
